Professor Ning Xiang is currently the director and tenured professor of the graduate program in Architectural Acoustics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the United States. He is also a visiting professor in Nanjing University and South China University of Technology. Professor Xiang is a renowned acoustical physicist in the international academia of acoustics for his outstanding works in both theory and application. He is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), a Fellow of the Institute of Acoustics (IoA, United Kingdom) and a Member of German Acoustical Society, a Member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, USA. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, and an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America Express Letters. He is often invited to deliver presentations at many internationally influential acoustics conferences including ICA, ASA, AES, and Inter-Noise. Since 2022, Professor Xiang is appointed the ASA Press-Springer book committee chair (editor-in-chief)

 

In 2014, for his distinguished achievement in the field of architectural acoustics, Professor Ning Xiang was awarded the Wallace Clement Sabine Medal. The Sabine Medal was established by ASA to acknowledge the scholars who make significant contributions to the knowledge of architectural acoustics. Professor Xiang is the 16th winner of the Medal since its establishment in 1957, and he is also the first Chinese scientist to receive the award.

 

Professor Xiang Ning has been making unique contributions to the fields of architectural acoustics, acoustical measurement technique, numerical simulation of sound, and acoustical signal processing. In 2018, He was awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Matquis Who's Who, the most well-known authority in biography. The achievement of Professor Xiang has been constructive not only to the field of architectural acoustics, but also to other acoustical fields.
