Yonghong Yan, director of CAS Key Lab of Speech Acoustics and Content Understanding. He received his BS in EE from Tsinghua University in 1990, and PhD in Computer Science from Oregon Graduate Institute in 1995. He worked at OGI since 1995, then as the Associate Director of the Center for Spoken Language Understanding (1997), and was appointed as Associate Professor in 1998. In late 1998, he joined Intel, where he served as the chief engineer, the chief architect for human computer interface, director and principal engineer of Intel China Research Center, the chairman of Human Computer Interface Research Council. In 2002, he joined Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), and was elected in "CAS scientists" and “Millions of Talent Projects National Candidates”. He is the recipient of NSFC Distinguished Young Scientists and National Excellent Scientists and Technologists. He published more than 200 papers and holds over 60 patents. He has won three first prizes in ministerial and provincial-level science and technology awards and one outstanding science and technology achievement award of CAS.
